Georgia E-Bike Rules and Regulations Summary

There are four main types of e-bikes, which are classified based on their speed and power:

Class 1 e-bikes are pedal-assist only and have a maximum speed of 20 mph.

Class 2 e-bikes are throttle-only and have a maximum speed of 20 mph.

Class 3 e-bikes are pedal-assist and throttle-assist and have a maximum speed of 28 mph.

Class 4 e-bikes are throttle-only and have a maximum speed of 28 mph.

In Georgia, e-bikes are allowed on all roadways except limited access highways and are subject to the same rules of the road as bicycles. E-bikes are not allowed on sidewalks.
